Curse of the evil eye

You may have seen this symbol multiple times or heard about the evil eye. I have seen it a lot throughout my life and definitely more now than ever!
But what does it mean?
What Is The Evil Eye?
The evil eye is a superstitious curse that seems to be originated from Greek culture and dates back to 3,000 BC.
It is believed that misfortune or bad luck will come your way when someone gives you a glare full of envy, also called ‘nazar.’
Pregnant women, babies and children being the most vulnerable victims. It could also reverse your good fortune.
Is It Real?
The evil eye is a belief in many cultures and religions such as, Hinduism, Islam and Christianity.
You can read many many stories of how the curse is real, the misfortune that was a result of that and so on.
Nazar is something that is mentioned quite often in my own culture and the symbol (image above) is used for protection in many homes.
I do not want to deny evil or negative energy. It’s quite apparent that evil and bad intent does exist.
I also believe that every story about a misfortune or bad luck caused by the evil eye is also true.
However, I don’t believe that the power lies within the actual curse and an evil glare.
Our mind is very powerful and whatever we dominantly believe manifests in our life.
That’s why if you believe that someone’s glare, envy or negative energy will bring you bad luck, the chances are that it will.
You are keeping the curse alive through your own beliefs. Whatever you put full faith in is possible.
I think the curse is also used as an excuse to explain why "bad things happen to good people" or to place blame on something else when something unfortunate occurs.
I remember at my cousin’s party a few years ago, I stepped on a piece of broken glass.
As I was trying to pull the glass out, someone mentioned that the reason for why that happened was nazar.
I started to think about some of the compliments I received that night and contemplated if someone actually had the intent to cause me harm or envied me and unintentionally “cursed” me.
The reason why this incident occurred is solely because I decided to take off my heels and walk around bare foot.
That is it.
How To Protect Yourself
The blue eye symbol that is at the start of this blog is used as protection against the curse.
It is also said that people with blue eyes are meant to bestow the curse which is why the symbol of protection is of a blue eye.
However, regardless of the eye colour - with or without intention anyone can pass this on with an evil glare.
The fact that our mind basically controls our life, the legend of the evil eye does not sit right with me.
I don’t want to give negative energy the power to potentially cause any harm to me.
Of course neither would you want to give something that power either.
This is why I believe that the best way to protect yourself is to not believe in it!
If you are spiritual and believe in such powers then why not put your faith in God’s protection?
Would you rather believe that the way someone looked at you or feels will determine what will happen to you? Or know that when you have complete faith in God that there is no evil that can touch you?
You don’t even have to use an object or put faith in a higher power to protect you. You can simply reject the idea and move on.
It doesn’t make sense to be afraid of something if you have faith that nothing bad can happen to you.
And if something misfortunate occurs – its just the way of life.
I don’t want to live my life on edge and be paranoid if I want to share some type of good news.
I don’t think this is how anyone would want to live their life.
There are many people with numerous levels of abundance and are doing well even after being exposed to the world.
Know that there is no way that you could control how someone feels. But you have control over your life.
It’s all about putting your energy into the right things. Affirm that when someone wishes you harm, it only reflects back onto themselves and not you.
